Best mockup generators in 2026: online, free and 3D
The best mockup generator depends on what you are showing. For apps and websites on 3D devices, ls.graphics, Mockuuups Studio and Shots work in the browser. For t-shirts and print-on-demand listings, Printify, Placeit, Mockey and Dynamic Mockups are built for sellers. Pacdora fits packaging, and Rotato makes animated 3D device videos on a Mac.
We make ls.graphics, so read our entry with that in mind. Every fact about the other generators comes from their own pages, checked on 31 October 2026. We left out prices because they change often; each site lists its own.
What is a mockup generator?
A mockup generator puts your design into a ready-made scene, such as a phone screen, a t-shirt or a box, and gives you back a finished picture or video. Unlike a PSD mockup, which you download and edit in Photoshop, a generator usually runs in the browser and needs nothing installed. If you would rather download free PSD files, see the best mockup websites.
How did we compare mockup generators?
We asked each generator the same four questions:
- What can you make for free, and with what limits?
- Where does it run: the browser, a desktop app, a plugin or an API?
- What does it export: still images, video, layered files?
- Can you use free exports in commercial and client work?
The last point separates generators more than anything else. Some allow commercial use of free exports, while others give free users a personal license only.
Which mockup generator is best for apps, websites and devices?
For a screen design on an iPhone, MacBook or iPad, pick a generator with real device scenes and video support.
ls.graphics
The ls.graphics online mockup generator opens 3D-rendered scenes of devices, packaging and print in the browser. You drop or paste a design on a screen, adjust the color, light, curves and focus blur, and export a PNG, a layered PSD for Photoshop, Photopea or Affinity Designer, or an SVG for Figma. With a clip on the screen it exports MP4, or WebM with a transparent background.
Free mockups are free to edit and export after you sign in, and they are allowed in personal and commercial projects, including client work. The full library comes with a plan. The same scenes are in the Figma mockup plugin.
Mockuuups Studio
Mockuuups Studio is a mockup generator with 5,200+ device and print mockups. It runs on the web, as a desktop app for Mac, Windows and Linux, and as plugins for Figma, Sketch and other tools. New accounts get 5 free exports from the full library; its license limits free and trial exports to personal, non-commercial use, with attribution.
Shots
Shots is a browser editor for device and website mockups aimed at social media and product pages. It makes still images, animated images and videos with zoom effects and animation presets, for iPhone, Android, iPad and desktop frames. Its home page offers a library of free mockups; its terms list Free, Basic and Pro plans.
Artboard Studio
Artboard Studio calls itself an online mockup generator and editor for designers, with 5,000+ mockups. It exports images and video and has a Figma plugin for mockups and animations. You can start for free; its license grants free users a personal license only.
Which mockup generator is best for t-shirts and print-on-demand?
If you sell merch, these generators are made for product listings, and several connect to your store.
Printify
The Printify mockup generator places artwork on watermark-free mockups for more than 2,000 products, in the browser or the Printify mobile app. Its page says standard mockups are unlimited and free with a Printify account, and that you can use them in listings, ads and on social media. Mockups can go straight to connected stores such as Etsy and Shopify.
Placeit
Placeit says it has 160k+ mockups: you drag your design onto a template in the browser. It also makes merch videos, animated logos and 3D video mockups, and its free templates page offers some free mockups.
Mockey
Mockey is an online generator with over 30,000 templates in 60+ categories, plus video mockups and a Figma plugin. On the free plan you upload a design and download JPG; PNG export comes with a paid plan. You sign up before uploading.
Dynamic Mockups
Dynamic Mockups is built for print shops, print-on-demand sellers and promo teams, with 10,000+ product templates, a web app, an API and a Photoshop integration. Its free plan needs no card, does not expire and starts with 50 credits; exports from the web app on the free plan carry no watermark.
Canva and Kittl
If you already design in Canva, its Mockups app works inside the Canva editor with t-shirt, device and print mockups; Smartmockups became part of Canva in 2021. Kittl includes mockups in its design platform, and its pricing page says the free plan is for personal use only.
Which mockup generator is best for packaging?
Pacdora is built for packaging: 5,000+ mockups, 3,000+ dieline templates and a 3D preview in the browser. It exports PNG or JPG, high-resolution renders, MP4 video and dieline files. You can browse, upload artwork and design for free; some export options need a subscription.
Which generators make 3D and video mockups?
For an app demo or a product launch clip, you need a generator that animates the device, not only one that places a picture.

- Rotato is a Mac app (macOS 11 or newer) for 3D mockup images and movies, with 30+ devices and a web version in public beta.
- Shots, Placeit, Mockey, Artboard Studio and Pacdora also export video, as listed above.
